Car wash at church yesterday

By James TC Wong

Aug 8, Miri – For two hours the youths at church were busy yesterday morning as parking bays turned into temporary “car wash” lots.

In their bid to play their role to raise money for the new Children’s Home, the i-Youth collected more than RM400 by washing cars for church members.

Pastor-in-charge Rev. Lisa Ting was pleased with the youths’ proactive initiative to raise money for the less priviledged.

She reminded the congregation to approach the youths after church service to commend them for their effort and love for the Children’s Home.

Construction of the new Miri Methodist Children’s Home at Jalan Jee Foh started at the end of last year.

Occupying a land area of 2½ acres, the new three-storey building upon completion will accommodate up to 100 children with facilities including a chapel and other amenities.

The project costing RM5 million has many generous donors already pledging more than half of it.
