Sep 26 – A two-fold joyful celebration was held in church yesterday.

Senadin Methodist Campus Gospel Center (SMCGC) celebrated its 8th year anniversary and Assistant Pastor Tiong Huong Ong hosted a post-wedding reception after the morning and evening worship service.

The delayed reception was intended for church members who could not attend the actual wedding ceremony held in Bintulu a week ago.

After the morning worship service many church members packed the Fellowship Hall to extend their heartiest congratulations to the newlyweds. Light refreshments and drinks were served with the wedding photos slideshow in play.

In the evening worship SMCGC celebrated its 8th year anniversary to remember God’s grace and to honor the work of its members.

From singspiration to offering, the service was carried out by the members of SMCGC who are mostly Curtin University undergraduates.

Miri Methodist Churches District Superintendent (DS) Rev. Esther Law, District Lay Leader Ting Kong Yu, Pastor-in-charge of Grace MC Rev. Lisa Ting and SMCGC’s Lay Leader Fidella Tiew were also present to worship and to experience the joy of the celebration.

The sermon “The Eight Blessings” was preached by Pastor Tiong.

After the sermon a video montage was played to show the humble beginnings of SMCGC in 2003, with details on its past and current activities.

In his appreciation speech SMCGC’s current serving Chairman Ben Zhang thanked God for His grace and wonderful love. He also thanked DS Rev. Law for her presence and applauded the past serving pastors Rev. Lau Hui Sieng, Rev. Lee Wen Chieh, Rev. Diong Pick Chiong and Pastor Connie Yong for their love in providing spiritual nourishment to the campus students through the years.

“We are also thankful to our Lay Leader Ms. Fidella Tiew who has been with SMCGC since its inception. We are also grateful to our mother church Grace Methodist and caring members. Since last year they have been serving us “love soup” (chicken soup),” added the 23 year-old Chairman who has just recently graduated from Curtin University and joined a public-listed palm oil company as a chemical engineer.

In addition to evening worship program, the members from SMCGC also presented a choir singing as well as a short skit on a boy-girl relationship that ultimately portrayed God’s unconditional love.

All glory to God!
