Guided by the Children’s Sunday School teachers, the 13-week program is scheduled to complete on June 13. The 2½ hours weekly session covers Lady Bird Reading Series, library time and singing. Light refreshments are also served at the end of each class. Essentially, the goal of the program is to improve English proficiency among the lower primary school students especially those from lower income families who are unable to send their children for private tuition. “We are glad to see the good response,” said Aaron Hii, the e-Kids coordinator and Chairman of the Miri Methodist District Churches Missions Committee. “We are thankful to the parents in recognizing the importance of the English language and we pray that they will continue to send their children until the program ends,” he added. Pastor-in-charge Rev. Lisa Ting was visibly elated with the enrollment. “This year we have more students from SRK (C) Chung Hua coming to join e-Kids program. I want to thank all the volunteers who are willing to sacrifice their time and energy to teach the students. I hope all the students will enjoy the program. May this program also bring glory to Heavenly Father,” she commented. For the second year, Grace MC is collaborating with Piasau Baptist Church in this unique community project.
