e-Kids project a success! Admin July 16, 2013 Community outreach, Grace Methodist Church by James TC Wong JULY 16, MIRI – The e-Kids project came to a successful close recently with more than 60 children receiving attendance certificates. Organized by Grace Methodist Church, the 12-week English reading program has helped improve English proficiency among the participants who are mostly students from the nearby SJK (C) Chung Hua Pujut. Feedback has indicated that the children and parents alike were appreciative of the free and fun program. An elated grandfather even commented that his granddaughter could actually read English books after completing the course. During the closing ceremony, some children shared their learning experiences on stage. “We are pleased with these results,” said Aaron Hii, the e-Kids Coordinator and Chairman of the Miri Methodist District Missions Committee. “Our vision is to instill in the children a love for reading and interaction using English language. Being the only English-speaking Methodist church in Miri, our teaching environment can be different from others in addition to our warmth and love for the children,” he added.
