Rev. Lenita Tiong was born and raised in Sibu in a Christian family. After finishing her Form 5 in the Methodist Secondary school, she came to Miri and completed her Form 6 at the Tanjong Lobang college.

While in her first year in the National University of Singapore, she accepted the Lord as her personal Lord and Savior and was subsequently very active in the Varsity Christian Fellowship in the university. It was then that the Lord first showed her the fields that are ready for harvest and the few laborers. Upon graduation in 1983, she worked as a Computer programmer in Singapore for 3 years before the Lord called her into full-time ministry.

However, due to strong parental objection, she was not able to fulfill that call. Instead she returned to Sarawak and worked as an administrator in an Oil Palm company in Bintulu for 3 years and an Oil and Gas company for 2 years.

In Bintulu, Rev Lenita was very much involved with the pioneering work at the Emmanuel Methodist Church and in 1991, she finally responded to God’s call to fulltime service.

She was accepted into the Master of Divinity Program at the Trinity Theological College Singapore and upon graduation from the college in 1994, she returned to Sarawak and was an Assistant Pastor at two Chinese churches in Sibu before making her way to Singapore.

In Singapore, she served at the Trinity Theological College for 3 years before returning to Sarawak again. This time she served at the Wesley Methodist Church in Sibu for 2 years and then was here in GMC for 6 months.

In July 2001, Rev. Lenita was sent by the Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference to serve as the Academic Dean at the Cambodian Methodist Bible School in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She was there for 5 years and in between that spent a year in Singapore to pursue her Master of Theology.

She returned to Sarawak in 2006 to continue serving the Lord as well as to look after her mum who had a stroke. She has also served in Gloria Methodist church, Bintulu; Wesley, Sibu and Trinity, Kuching.

Currently she sits on the Board of Finance of the SCAC and is also the Chairperson of the SCAC English Ministry Committee.
